Læringsplatformen

Welcome to this learning platform dedicated to training in circular economy.

The initiative is core part of an EU-funded project for the Interreg South Baltics region called Circular MuSe (Municipal Services). The aim of the project is to help increase resource efficiency and reduce waste in municipal projects and services in smaller towns and rural areas.

The training (and mentoring) work stream contributes to this objective by

  • raising awareness of the importance of transitioning to a circular economy
  • providing engaging training materials to increase the knowledge level of topics in circularity
  • helping to build capacities and in closed-loop municipal services.

Approach

The courses are learning pathways that develop the knowledge, skills and competences to address real-world challenges.

The courses are organized into 3 broad learning pathways:
  1. Understand the basic principles of circular economy as a foundation for developing a circular mindset
  2. Explore the most relevant topics of circular economy to municipal services and operations
  3. Apply the principles and knowledge through skills and competencies to solve concrete challenges

We offer a training program that’s flexible so that you can study at your own pace and when it is most convenient for you. This means that you can start, stop and pick up where you left off while retaining your overall progress through the course.

In the profile area you can see the courses you are currently enrolled in, your overall progress and a course wishlist. You are not obliged to follow the course order if you do not wish to.

A structured learning system

Each course is split into sections that build towards the learning objectives. Each section contains a series of short video lessons and at the end there are quizzes to test your knowledge.

Courses includes additional materials for further reading, and there is also a section on circular economy terminology and useful resources that complements the lessons.

Your instructor

My interest in circularity was first inspired by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Cradle to Cradle.

It has since shaped my professional goals of helping organisations use resources more effectively, close material and value loops, and build long-term resilience in an increasingly resource-constrained world.

I currently teach at VIA University College where I have developed electives in Circular Economy and taught Life Cycle Analysis to Engineering students amongst other subjects in the field of Purchasing, Supply Chain and Business Management.
